After announcing his presidential bid on Independence Day in June, rapper Kanye West on Friday filed paperwork to appear on the Louisiana ballot in November election.
West, who filed the paperwork just ahead of the deadline, has announced himself as a candidate of ‘The Birthday Party’ along with declaring Michelle Tidball as his running mate.
Besides West, 10 more third-party or independent presidential candidates have filed to appear on the Louisiana ballot.
Kanye West have been proposing the idea of running for US President for years now, while many of the US citizens considered it merely a publicity stunt, the rapper on July 4 shocked one and all by announcing his bid in a tweet. His campaign submitted papers to the Federal Election Commission to run within two weeks of his announcement.
However, his campaign has failed to meet deadlines to make it on the presidential ballot in several other states, including Wisconsin.
Meanwhile, Louisiana officials have not reviewed filings yet. The state, unlike others, does not require independent candidates to collect thousands of signatures to file a nomination to appear on the ballot.
As per a report of The Advocate, West in his filing listed a post box office in Cody, Wyoming, as his campaign’s address. His running mate, Tidball, who is a self-described “biblical life coach” resides in Wyoming, moreover, West also owns a mansion in the state.
West, who is a dedicated Trump supporter, said in an interview earlier this month he’s “not denying” that his campaign seeks to hurt Biden’s presidential bid.
