India and England coped up with the ticket billing as they produced a high-voltage campaign opener in their Pool B match at the FIH women’s hockey World Cup.
Isabelle Petter and Vandana Katariya scored goals for England and India respectively as they helped their teams add on a crucial point on the pool table.
However, India looked the better team on the pitch but wasted many chances, including six of the seven penalty corners they earned. With the other match in the four-team Pool B between China and New Zealand too ending in a draw (2-2), all teams in this tough Pool have a point each.

England, who had beaten India for the bronze medal at Tokyo Olympic Games. got the first chance when their striker took a fierce shot on goal but an alert Savita averted early danger with a diving save only minutes into the first quarter.
