Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday said he has tested positive for novel coronavirus, joining a list of other union ministers who have contracted the virus.
Gadkari, who is in charge of the Road and Transport Ministry and the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, said he was doing well and isolating himself.
Gadkari’s ministerial colleagues Amit Shah, Shripad Naik, Dharmendra Pradhan, Kailash Choudhary, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Gajendra Shekhawat and Suresh Angadi were also diagnosed with Covid-19 recently.
Prominent politicians who tested Covid-19 positive recently include
Karnataka chief minister B S Yediyurappa, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit.
Today is the 178th day since India implemented a nationwide lockdown, to help curb the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Meanwhile, the global death count due to COVID-19 has crossed 937,000 and the number of cases is almost 29.7 million, as per the latest updates by Johns Hopkins University.
