India showcase
Following the success of the BMW C 400 GT maxi-style ICE scooter, the BMW CE 04 premium electric scooter has been showcased in India. BMW Motorrad, the Bavarian automaker’s motorcycle division, is attempting to replicate the success of its ICE-powered ultra-high maxi scooter in India by introducing a comparable big and ultra-premium electric scooter.
BMW CE 04 specifications
The BMW CE 04 combines cutting-edge futuristic design with a sustainable electric powertrain. BMW Motorrad has infused sci-fi styling cues such as floating panels, minimalist graphics, an exposed rear wheel, contrasting orange highlights, and so on. The premium e-scooter is propelled by a 20hp liquid-cooled PMSM and an 8.9kWh battery pack. On a single charge, the range is claimed to be around 130km. The vehicle accelerates from zero to fifty kilometres per hour in 2.6 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 120 kilometres per hour.
Using a 2.3kW charger, the BMW CE 04 charges from zero to 100 per cent
in 4 hours and 20 minutes. The CE 04 can also be charged using a 6.9kW fast charger in 1 hour and 40 minutes. The vehicle also has dual 265mm front discs, a single disc at the rear, and ABS. Traction control is another aspect of safety. The scooter weighs 231kg and has a seating height of 780mm. BMW Motorrad, true to its brand, will almost certainly bring some custom accessories for the CE 04 and its buyers.
The BMW CE 04 is well-equipped by scooter standards, with features such as a ventilated mobile charging compartment with a Type C port. A helmet storage compartment is also revealed by the bench-style seat. The e-scooter also features a car-like 10.25-inch HD TFT infotainment screen with mobile phone connectivity, split-screen view, in-built navigation, and other features. BMW also provides three riding modes: Eco, Road, and Rain.
Launch plan for India
While the company has not yet announced plans for the BMW CE 04 electric scooter in India, the brand has found success with its other niche, the Rs 10+ lakh ICE scooter. We previously reported that BMW Group India President Vikram Pawah and other company executives believed that such an ultra-premium electric maxi scooter could work in the Indian market. However, if the BMW CE 04 is released, it will most likely be through the CBU route. The e-scooter could carry a price tag of Rs 20 lakh, bringing it way too close to BMW’s own R 1250 GS adventure tourer bike in India.
