BMW CE 04 e-scooter: With a lithium-ion battery, great features and sleek design, this EV has everything going for it – check it out

BMW CE 04 e-scooter: Alongside the release of the 2023 S 1000 RR, BMW has unveiled its CE 04 concept in India. The lithium-ion battery in the futuristic-looking electric scooter has an 8.9 kWh capacity, which gives it a range of 130 kilometres on a single charge.

The design, structure, and features of the BMW CE 04 e-scooter

The CE 04 has a small front apron, large side panels, and a slim back end with a bench-like seat. The CE 04 e-scooter from BMW has storage spaces on both the front and sides. There is also a well-ventilated place to charge your phone with a USB Type-C port.

The BMW CE 04 has a motor with a permanent magnet. It is attached to the steel frame between the battery and the back wheel. It is rated at 15kW (20hp) and can produce up to 31KW (42hp). It lets the CE 04 go from 0 to 50 km/h in 2.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 120 km/h, according to claims.

The motor on the CE 04 is powered by an 8.9 kWh lithium-ion battery that is hidden in the floorboard. BMW says that a fully charged scooter can go 130 km. With a 2.3kW charger, the battery can be charged from 0% to 100% in 4 hours and 20 minutes. With a 6.9kW fast charger, that time is cut to 1 hour and 40 minutes.

The BMW CE 04 has traction control and three riding modes that come standard: Eco, Road, and Rain. The huge 10.25-inch, high-resolution TFT display with full smartphone connectivity lets you switch between the different ride modes. The dashboard also has a function that lets you separate navigation from other riding functions.

The frame of the CE 04 is made of tubular steel. It has a 35mm telescopic fork at the front and a single-sided swingarm with a mono-shock that can be adjusted for preload. The front wheel of the scooter has a tyre with a section size of 120 millimetres, while the rear wheel has a tyre with a section size of 160 millimetres.

Twin 265mm discs and a single disc at the back take care of stopping the car. ABS is standard, but BMW offers ABS Pro, which has a function for turning corners, as an add-on.

BMW sells the CE 04 electric scooter in two colours around the world. The standard one is light white with matte black parts, while the Avant Garde Style trim has a Magellan Grey metallic colour, a black/orange seat, and an orange wind deflector.

BMW has not yet revealed any intentions to release the CE 04 electric scooter in India; but, given the popularity of the C 400 GT maxi scooter, it seems likely that the company will do so in the near future. In international markets, the CE 04 costs about twice as much as the C 400 GT when it comes to price. And if this keeps up, its price won’t be too different from that of a R 1250 GS in India.
