Buick Electra E4: The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China has discovered the second electric vehicle (EV) in the Buick Electra family as part of the model’s homologation procedure.
In this case, we’re talking about the Buick Electra E4, which makes its unofficial premiere less than a month after SAIC-GM unveiled the larger Buick Electra E5 and weeks after a resembling prototype was spotted road-testing in Michigan.
Based on GM’s Ultium platform, the Buick Electra E4 will be the brand’s second entirely electric vehicle to be sold in China. The Electra E4 inherits the Buick Pure design language first seen on the Buick Electra-X Concept revealed in June 2022 and later adopted by the Electra E5.
Actually, considering how similar the Electra E4 looks to the Electra-X, one might conclude that it is the latter’s production version. It has headlights and taillights that are quite similar to one another, a sizable trapezoidal grille, a reimagined flying wing design, and the brand’s new tri-shield logo.

Buick Electra E4 Design
The Electra E4 has a sleek appearance with flush door handles and the same athletic stance as the idea when viewed from the side. But the wheels aren’t that huge, and the production vehicle has regular side mirrors in place of the side cameras.
Buick’s Electra E4 is somewhat shorter than the Electra E5 at 189.7 inches (4,818 mm), but it is wider at 75.3 inches (1,912 mm) and shorter at 62.2 inches (1,580 mm). The Electra E5 and Chevrolet Equinox EV both have a wheelbase that is 116.3 inches (2,954 mm) long.
The Buick Electra E4 will have a standard single-motor powertrain with 180 kilowatts (241 horsepower), according to GM Authority. The motor may be situated on the front axle. According to reports, the base model’s battery pack is made of lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) Ultium. A more potent GS version of the Electra E4 with an additional electric motor for all-wheel drive will also be available from Buick.
Two of the five Ultium-based EVs that the brand has committed to introducing in China by the year 2025 are the Buick Electra E4 and E5. In the second half of the year, the Electra E4 is anticipated to make its debut in the biggest EV market in the world.
GM Chairman Mark Reuss stated in November that the Electra E4 would be a China-only model, thus although the Electra E5 is probably available in North America, the E4 may not. We can only hope that the company will reconsider.
