Delhi-NCR Pollution: Previously, Delhiites seen restrictions on vehicle movement due to the implementation of stage three of GRAP in the city. The city administration also seeks to implement the Odd-Even rule by next week. Authorities will implement it from 13 November to November 30. The decision is aimed at reducing vehicular pollution in Delhi.
GRAP III Implemented in Gurugram, Noida and Faridabad
However, the new development in the scenario is that that the GRAP III restrictions have been also implemented in 3 major towns of Delhi which include metropolitans- Gurugram, Faridabad and Noida. With the implementation of GRAP stage 3 authorities have banned running of BS3 petrol and BS4 diesel engine cars in these cities. “If anyone uses the above-mentioned category of vehicles in the district, then challan and legal action will be taken against him under Section 194 (1) of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988. These orders have been implemented in the district with immediate effect and will remain in effect till November 30 or till stage III of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) is lifted.” said Nishant Kumar, Gurugram DC.
Restrictions in Noida
Gautam Buddh Nager and Nodia have also imposed the same restrictions on plying of BS3 petrol and BS4 diesel engine cars. As National Capital Territory is under the stage 4 GRAP restrictions, arrival of trucks and lorries carrying unimportant items from Noida is banned too. However, trucks and lorries powered by CNG, LNG or electric and other eco-friendly powertrain are eligible to enter in the city.
Noida has banned the plying of diesel vehicles older than 10 years and petrol vehicles older than 15 years. Authorities have also announced strict penalties if someone is found violating this restriction. Noida Traffic Police have also requested people to turn off their vehicle’s engine at red signals to reduce emission. Additionally, authorities have also requested people to use public transportation and bicycles to reach nearby destinations
