Honda CB Unicorn 160: A younger generation looking for a chic daily commuter motorcycle is the target market for the luxurious 160cc motorcycle known as the Unicorn. Honda’s CB Unicorn 160 fills the vacuum left in its inventory when the CB Dazzler was discontinued a few years ago. The premium 150cc market is dominated by muscular motorcycles, and the CB Unicorn is no exception. The CB Unicorn 160 was inspired by the Honda CX-01 concept, which made its debut at the 2014 Auto Expo, as well as the CB Trigger. The headlamp has a bikini fairing, and the fuel tank has a muscular aspect. The majority of the electrical parts used by the CB Unicorn and CB Trigger are interchangeable, which ought to lower the cost of development and production.
Features and specifications
Standard features include a long seat, a 3D Honda logo, a throwback all-analog instrument console, a single-channel ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System), an engine stop switch, and programmed fuel injection. Convenience features like Electric Start, Pillion Footrest, Engine Kill Switch, and Pillion Grabrail are also available on the Honda Unicorn 160.
Design and Style
New chrome details on the bodywork make the Unicorn 160, a high-end commuter bike, look the part. The Bike 160’s headlight is angular and has a wide chrome bezel around it. Although an LED headlamp would have been desirable, the motorcycle still uses a halogen headlamp. Incorporated within the body panels are a blacked-out visor and blacked-out rearview mirrors. The Unicorn clearly has a butch stance when viewed from the side.
The new Unicorn 160 boasts a powerful gasoline tank with the 3D Honda logo and a very comfortable long flat single-piece seat. The motorcycle’s lower half is completely blacked out, giving it a more refined appearance, with subtle chrome highlights. It has a large tail lamp in the back, but it is also halogen. There are no LEDs on the motorcycle, and the turn indicators are also halogen.
Engine and Gearbox
The new Honda Unicorn 160 is powered by a brand-new 162.7cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected BS6 engine. This commuter motorcycle’s 149.2cc engine was used in the BS4 model, which was given the name Unicorn 150. The improved BS6 motor generates 12.7 HP and 14 Nm of maximum torque at 5500 RPM at 7500 RPM. The engine has Honda’s Eco Technology (HET) for enhanced performance and fuel efficiency, and it is coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission. A new engine start/stop switch has also been added to the motorcycle.
The motorcycle is a superb one in terms of performance. The bike outperforms other 125cc basic commuter bikes on the market since it is a 160cc luxury model. The linear power delivery and pleasant first pickup of the motorcycle make for a more comfortable riding experience. The brand-new Honda Unicorn 160 also offers excellent fuel economy.
Suspension, Brakes and Tyres
A stronger diamond frame supports the new Honda Unicorn 160. Telescopic forks in the front and a hydraulic monoshock absorber in the back are responsible for the motorcycle’s suspension. The Honda Unicorn 160 has a comfortable and smooth ride. It absorbs uneven patches and flaws on the road with ease. The new Honda Unicorn 160 has disc brakes at both ends for braking. The motorcycle sports 240mm disc brakes up front and 130mm drum brakes at the back.
A single-channel ABS or anti-lock braking system is a standard safety feature on the new Honda Unicorn 160. It is one of the few commuter bikes in India with ABS. Tubeless tyres on the motorcycle have an 18-inch diameter. The motorcycle’s front tyre measures 80/100-18, while the back tyre measures 100/90 sections. The motorcycle’s HET tyres are specially designed to increase fuel efficiency and have low rolling resistance.
