Honda unveils its iconic mopeds electric variants, all we know about these amazing electric mopeds

Honda: Three renowned two-wheelers—the Cub, the Dax, and the Zoomer—have electric versions that were unveiled by Honda’s Chinese subsidiary. Unsurprisingly, the Cub e:, Dax e:, and Zoomer e: names for the green siblings.

New Honda electric mopeds

Honda has kept the three vehicles’ original design cues but has updated them with an electric drivetrain that works in tandem with pedals. Although they resemble electric mopeds more than bicycles, according to Chinese law, they are classified as “electric bicycles” because their highest speed is less than or equal to 25kmph.

Even though they all have a beautiful retro aesthetic, they also have modern features like all-LED lighting, an LCD instrument console with 4G smartphone connectivity, and even NFC operation because, after all, physical keys are so 1990s.

The hub motor from Bosch powers the trio. Expect them to provide about 30 to 50 kilometres of autonomy, even though the advertised range numbers are yet unknown. If users run out of power, pedal power will still be available to help. All three are outfitted with a rear monoshock, telescopic fork, disc up front, and drum at the rear. The Cub e: rolls on substantial 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends, while the other two get smaller ones, staying true to its gasoline-powered ancestry.

Honda’s electric roadmap

These three electric vehicles, according to Honda, are a part of their global launch plans for ten electric motorcycles by 2025. Additionally, they are a part of the Japanese bicycle manufacturer’s plans to introduce five “small and reasonably priced EM (electric moped) and EB (electric bicycle) models between now and 2024 spanning Asia (including China), Europe, and Japan.
