Hyundai starts developing a Lunar Exploration Rover development model, all we know so far

Hyundai: Future lunar exploration is a goal of Hyundai Motor Group (HMG).
A prototype lunar exploration rover is now being constructed, according to the automaker. Automobile parts from Hyundai and Kia will be used in the spacecraft.
By the second part of 2024, the company aims to complete the prototype, and by 2027, they want to have a working model ready for launch.

Hyundai Moon Exploration

The firm and six Korean aerospace research institutes signed a collaborative multilateral research agreement in July 2022 to run and assist a consultative body that will create a mobility solution for lunar surface exploration.

The Korea Institute of Automotive Technology (KATECH), the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology (KICT), the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI), the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI), and the Korea Institute of Telecommunication Research Institute (ETRI) are all members of the advisory body.

Rover details

In order to resist the severe conditions on the Moon, the rover will be fitted with a thermal management system and radiation protection.
The lunar rover from HMG will be solar-powered and weigh around 70 kilogrammes. It will be capable of driving by itself.
The rover will be set down by the automaker to conduct exploration near the south pole of the moon.
