Indian Government: The Government of India is making extensive preparations for the 2023 G20 Summit, which will be held in Delhi. In order to prevent congestion, the Chief Minister of Delhi has also declared a government holiday from September 8 through 10. The unique aspect of this initiative is that the leaders and representatives of 25 different nations are travelling to India. For this, the Indian government has made preparations. For the visitors, the government would also purchase bulletproof vehicles. In other words, the guests’ security will be given the utmost attention.
Indian Government will buy 50 bulletproof Audis
The government has purchased approximately 50 left-hand drive, bulletproof Audi automobiles from Germany at a reported cost of Rs 400 crore in order to prevent any form of carelessness or error during the G20 conference. However, the Audi A8L is a possibility, even though the exact model has not yet been disclosed. The first iteration of this bulletproof vehicle cost Rs 9 crore when it was introduced in India in 2017.
Expected to cost over 400 Crores
Even at a heavily discounted rate, the Indian government will still have to spend almost Rs 400 crore to buy bulletproof cars from Germany.
Since driving an LHD vehicle is prohibited in India, Delhi Police is also having a lot of problems with the special convoys. Police may disregard the legality issue, but the department is worried about LDH cars sharing the road with right-hand drive (RHD) cars. Only India, Australia, Japan, South Africa, and the United Kingdom are G20 members who employ RHD automobiles.
