Ducati: Ducati won’t soon introduce an electric motorcycle for consumers, which will make it one of the companies which do not offer EVs yet.
Ducati electric bikes
The business still needs to work on enhancing battery range and performance, according to Jason Chinnock, chief executive officer of Ducati’s North American operations.
“It’s going to be some years, The battery technology really isn’t there.” He said.
Compared to cars, the motorbike market is being affected by electrification more unevenly. Honda Motor Co. recently disclosed plans to release at least 10 models globally by 2025.
Alternate fuel options
Ducati is looking into alternative fuels and other technologies to lessen its carbon footprint as one of the four premium brands inside Volkswagen’s premium division that share research and manufacturing resources.
“There isn’t a consumer bike directly in development because this is still so early,” Jason said. “It’s really going to take battery tech to evolve.”
“Once that is evolved to the point where it makes sense for us to integrate it in, where we can address performance and range and weight, that’s the trifecta,” Jason said. “It still needs to be distinctly a Ducati.”
