Mahindra, along with others, will invest Rs 875 crores in Jawa and Yezdi
With the goal of turning the two-wheeler industry around and into a viable venture, this is the single largest investment set aside for the bikemaker, one of M&M’s focus units.
Classic Legends’ external and current investors would contribute an additional Rs 350 crore, while M&M would invest Rs 525 crore. The new investors’ identities were withheld by the corporation. The current owners of Classic Legends are Anupam Thareja, the founder and managing partner of Phi Capital, and Boman Irani, the chairman and managing director of Rustomjee Group.
Efforts to revive legendary brands
Mahindra’s efforts to revive Classic Legends have allowed well-known two-wheeler brands like Yezdi and JAWA to reappear in the Indian market with new models.
The Adventure, Scrambler, and Roadster are three new motorcycles from Yezdi that debuted just last year.
But despite all of this, Classic Legends has not yet been as successful as its main competitors, Royal Enfield and Honda.
Among the models offered by JAWA Motorcycles in India are the 42, the 42 Bobber, and the Perak, which is the classic JAWA model. The Roadster, Scrambler, and Adventure are models offered by Yezdi.
