The Mahindra XUV700 SUV has three engine options, starting with the older vehicle. The petrol engine is a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged engine with a maximum output of 197 horsepower and 380 nm of torque. While both diesel engines are 2.2-litre turbocharged units, the more potent variant has a higher peak output of 182 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, while the base diesel engine only generates 153 horsepower and 360 pound-feet of peak torque.
Additionally, the Mahindra XUV700 offers two different gearbox choices: a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission, both of which may be ordered with both petrol and diesel powertrains. It is important to note that the standard diesel engine may only be ordered with a 6-speed manual transmission.
On the other hand, there are two engine choices for the Toyota Innova Hycross. The base 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated petrol engine has a maximum output of 171.6bhp and a maximum torque of 205Nm, whilst the Strong Hybrid powertrain combines a 2.0-litre petrol engine with an effective electric motor. The aggregate output of these systems exceeds 184 bhp at their peak.
When it comes to transmission options, Toyota does not provide many options. A CVT transmission is included with the Innova Hycross’s gasoline-only model, while an e-CVT gearbox is included with the model’s Strong Hybrid variation. The Innova Hycross can even easily go into pure EV mode thanks to the latter.
Size comparison
The Toyota Innova Hycross is about an entire size bigger than the Mahindra XUV700 in terms of dimensions because the Japanese MPV is 95mm longer, 40mm taller, and has a 109mm longer wheelbase. The Mahindra XUV700 SUV is 44mm wider than the Toyota Innova Hycross, nevertheless. The Innova Hycross has a 300-litre boot, which is 240 litres more than what the Mahindra XUV700 offers thanks to these higher overall specifications.
Features Compared
Both the upcoming Toyota Innova Hycross and the Mahindra XUV700 have similar features, including large 10+inch infotainment systems with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, wireless charging, a panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable front seats, ventilated front seats, climate control, and more. However, the Innova Hycross has a superior second row with seats designed like ottomans.
Safety Systems
Numerous airbags, ABS, EBD, traction control (TC), ESP, ISOFIX anchoring spots, a 360-degree surround-view camera, parking sensors, and other safety features are included in both the Mahindra XUV700 and Toyota Innova Hycross. Additionally, both models have ADAS as well.
Verdict
The Mahindra XUV700 is an excellent SUV without a question, and the lengthy wait times are evidence of the SUV’s popularity in the Indian car industry. With a superior second-row seating system, more useful luggage capacity, and a more future-proof motor, the Toyota Innova Hycross appears to be a better overall package.
