Toyota: For the longest time, the Japanese multinational carmaker Toyota Motor Corporation has been held in high regard as one of the most dependable names in the world. We’ve also heard many tales of people in India travelling tens of thousands of miles in their Toyota cars. The cost of driving and maintaining a Toyota over a ten-year period is also the lowest of any brand in the world, according to a new study that has validated this.

A new study on Toyota
A survey has revealed that Toyota is the most affordable brand of vehicle to maintain, coming in at number one. According to the survey, the average cost of maintaining a Toyota car over a ten-year period was only $5,996. Following the group, Japanese manufacturers Mitsubishi, Honda, Mazda, and Nissan rounded out the top 5 automakers on this list, with maintenance expenses ranging from $7,787 for a Mitsubishi to $8,088 for a Nissan over a ten-year period.
The survey also showed the remarkable finding that the Japanese manufacturer managed to place 7 cars in the top 10 of a list of 164 vehicles that were graded according to their maintenance expenses. The Toyota Prius tops the list with only $4,008 in maintenance costs over a ten-year period. In the meantime, the Toyota Yaris, which costs $4,027, took the second spot. Toyota Camry was in fifth place ($4,203), Corolla was in third ($4,087), Prius Prime was in fourth ($4,098), and Toyota Avalon was in sixth ($4,407). To everyone’s amazement, even the popular two-door sports car Toyota Supra, which only cost $4,950 over a ten-year period, was ranked seventh.
Brands that followed
The American EV vehicle behemoth Tesla, meanwhile, claimed the top spot on the list of luxury automotive companies. According to the report, Tesla automobiles only cost $5,867 over the course of ten years. Additionally, with a $3,587 starting price, its hatchback Model 3 topped the list of vehicles. Tesla’s all-electric car Model S maintained a second place on the list with a price of $4,566, and the Model Y took third place with a price of $4,732.
The second cheapest luxury car brand to maintain was Lexus, the high-end division of Toyota, a Japanese automaker. However, Lexus cars took the next four spots on the list of vehicles. The fourth-placed Lexus ES 350 cost $5,488 on average to maintain, while the fifth-placed Lexus ES 300h cost $5,662 to maintain. The Lexus IS 350 ($5,680) and Lexus GS 350 ($5,721) took sixth and seventh place, respectively.
The American truck manufacturer RAM, whose maintenance expenditures during a 10-year period averaged $22,075, came in first place on the list of the most expensive popular brands to maintain. Meanwhile, Jeep, Chrysler, and Dodge, the sister brands of RAM, took the second, third, and fourth positions with prices of $11,476, $11,364, and $11,079.
