Nitin Gadkari plans to put an end to sirens for VIP cars, Details

Nitin Gadkari: Nitin Gadkari, the minister of state for roads, transport and highways, announced on Saturday that he intends to stop using sirens on VIP cars to reduce noise pollution. A new policy is being developed, the union minister continued, in which the sound of calm Indian musical instruments like the bansuri (flute), tabla, and shank might take the place of the sirens.

“Controlling sound pollution is very important. I am lucky that I got an opportunity to end the red light (beacon) on VIP’s vehicle. Now, I am planning to put an end to sirens on VIP vehicles,” said Gadkari.

“I am making a policy in which the siren sound would be replaced by the sound of Basuri (flute), tabla, and ‘shankh’. I want people to be relieved from noise pollution.” According to ANI, the union minister said.
