Novus electric bike: The first electric motorcycle from the German start-up Novus has just been launched. It stands out for its futuristic design and its price, which will be close to 50000 euros(42,52,758 INR).
The pre-orders for the device are currently being accepted, but initial deliveries won’t start until 2022. When Novus unveiled a prototype of this model at the 2019 CES in Las Vegas, United States, it generated controversy.
The bike’s weight and size
The Novus Bike is a single-seater that stands out for being remarkably light, in large part because of a carbon-fiber frame that weighs only 7 kgs. The motor and batteries of the device weigh only 75 kg, while other parts like the fork and the wheels also contain carbon-fiber materials. The machine can support a load of up to 125 kg for the rider.
It will provide a top speed of 120km/h
The new machine can go from 0 to 50 km/h in under 3 seconds and has a top speed of 120 km/h thanks to an 18-kW motor that produces the equivalent of 24 hp. Regarding the range, it has a good but not exceptional ability to travel about 100 kilometres on a single charge while driving in cities.
Charging time and capacity
Regarding security, the Novus Bike’s battery can be charged to up to 80% of its capacity in just one hour, and it can be unlocked without a key using an NFC-compatible smartphone.
Just like you might if you were pre-ordering a Tesla, you only need to put down a 1,000 euro deposit to reserve one of the new bikes. You’ll need to exercise patience regarding the timeline. No earlier than 2022 is anticipated for the first Novus Bike deliveries, which are largely handmade.
