Toyota Rumion MPV: Toyota is getting ready to release the Rumion MPV, which is based on the Maruti Ertiga, in the Indian market. The Rumion, following the Urban Cruiser and Glanza, will be the third rebadged Maruti product provided by Toyota in India as part of the Toyota-Suzuki alliance. The automaker already offers the Rumion in countries like South Africa, and Maruti Suzuki will also produce and supply the Indian variant, just like it does for export.

The Rumion is the second Maruti-supplied model for Toyota in India as part of the Toyota-Suzuki alliance after the Glanza. Additionally, Maruti provides Toyota with other models for export: the Ciaz is marketed as the Belta, the Celerio as the Vitz, and the Baleno as the Starlet. At Toyota’s plant in Bidadi, Karnataka, the Grand Vitara, which is primarily a Maruti product, is produced alongside its badge-engineered cousin, the Hyryder.

Know about the engine and powertrain

The 1.5-liter petrol engine with 103 horsepower and 137 pound-feet of torque from the Ertiga in India will also be used in the Rumion. It will be paired with a six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox or a five-speed manual gearbox. Later on, a CNG powertrain option should be offered. The Rumion will also be offered in a three-row, eight-seater format, similar to the Ertiga.
