All about Toyota bZ4X

Toyota and Subaru worked together to create the electric SUV, utilising Subaru’s expertise in all-wheel drive engineering. The bZ4X is the first of a line of bZ (Beyond Zero) vehicles to be constructed on the specific e-TNGA architecture; it is not a modified version of an existing model but rather is created from scratch.

According to the brand, the e-TNGA allows for a very robust framework and low CoG, two characteristics that contribute to the bZ4X’s stable and gratifying performance. The battery pack is integrated into the chassis and placed beneath the vehicle floor. Additionally, the modular architecture enables the employment of a variety of body kinds in various segments.

The company claims that the e-integration TNGA’s of the battery pack into the chassis and placement beneath the vehicle floor enable a very stiff framework and low CoG, two characteristics that are key to the bZ4X’s reliable and gratifying performance. Additionally, a variety of body types from various segments can be used thanks to the modular architecture.

bZ4X specifications

Both front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) models of the Toyota bZ4X are offered. A 150 kW e-motor producing 204 horsepower and 265 Nm of torque powers the former. The AWD version has X-MODE to enable stable running through mud and snow and offers a combined power output of up to 218 horsepower and 337 Nm.

A 71.4 kWh lithium-ion battery made up of 96 water-cooled cells powers the bZ4X. Each of these cells is carefully inspected to look for any indications of deterioration or abnormalities. Toyota promises that the battery will retain at least 70% of its capacity for up to 10 years as a sign of its trust in its quality. The original EV Manufacturing Warranty covers this warranty for 8 years or 1,60L of driving.

The front-wheel drive edition of the bZ4X has a WLTP-approved driving range of 516 km, while the all-wheel drive vehicle has a range of 470 km. Under normal temperature circumstances, it can charge to 80% in around 30 minutes and has a 6.6 kW onboard charger.
