Volkswagen: Volkswagen, a German carmaker, declared at CES 2024 that ChatGPT will be added to its IDA voice assistant-equipped cars. Beginning in the second quarter of 2024, ChatGPT will be integrated into Volkswagen’s EV lineup, which includes the ID.7, ID.4, ID.5, ID.3, and the recently released Tiguan, Passat, and Golf models. Users in Europe will be able to access the new function initially; preparations for the US have not yet been finalised.
Volkswagen to integrate ChatGPt into its cars
Volkswagen is joining the ChatGPT market. During CES 2024 in Las Vegas on Monday, the German carmaker revealed plans to integrate an AI-driven chatbot into every Volkswagen automobile that has its IDA voice assistant installed.
The Chat Pro software from Cerence and a huge language model from OpenAI serve as the foundation for this AI-powered chatbot, which will launch in Europe during the second quarter. VW’s EV lineup, which includes the ID.7, ID.4, ID.5, and ID.3, as well as its new Tiguan, Passat, and Golf vehicles, are among the models that will receive the AI chatbot.
The feature won’t be available for Volkswagen cars in the US for the time being. According to Volkswagen, it was “being considered” and undergoing internal approval processes.
Features to be offered
Basic features like air conditioning, navigation, infotainment, and general knowledge inquiries can all be managed by the ChatGPT-enabled IDA voice assistant. The German carmaker claims that in the future, ChatGPT-backed AI will be able to do more, including “enriching conversations, clearing up questions, interacting in intuitive language, receiving vehicle-specific information, and much more –purely hands-free.”
According to Volkswagen, users may use the new feature without having to install ChatGPT, open a new account, or download any new apps. Instead, they just say “Hello IDA” or touch a button on the steering wheel to activate the voice assistant.
