Xiaomi has fined the design firm 1 million yuan as compensation and fine for leaking the design of the company’s upcoming electric car, according to Gizmochina. On January 22, Beijing Molding Technology accidentally leaked the design of the upcoming MS11 electric car’s front and rear bumpers.
Design
The MS11 is said to be a sleek and sporty four-door sedan, bearing a striking resemblance to the BYD Seal and other foreign brands’ electric vehicles. With a full-length glass roof, big wheels, and Wilwood brakes, the MS11 projects an attractive and stylish design. The Xiaomi logo is prominently displayed in the center of the bonnet, and a LiDAR sensor sits at the top of the windshield, adding to the car’s futuristic appeal.
Xiaomi has a zero-tolerance policy
According to the report, while Beijing Molding Technology Co., Ltd. maintains that the company was not directly responsible for the incident because the draughts were leaked by sub-vendors, the incident occurred due to a confidentiality agreement signed between Beijing Molding Technology and Xiaomi Auto. As a result, the designing firm will be held liable for any untoward incident. For this contract, Beijing Molding will pay a hefty fine of one million yuan to Xiaomi. According to the report, CEO Lei Jun stated that “Xiaomi has a zero-tolerance policy for leaks and expects all partners and suppliers to follow the confidentiality agreement. The hefty fine will serve as a warning to all partners that Xiaomi will not tolerate such incidents.”

As previously stated, the leaked image was the clearest image of the Xiaomi MS11 to date. The Xiaomi MS11’s front and rear bumpers were visible in the image. The full glass roof, big wheels, and Wilwood brakes are all visible in this photo of the MS11. The Xiaomi logo is visible between the wheels, and a LiDAR sensor is visible on top of the windscreen.
