The Dolphin name was recently trademarked by BYD in India, suggesting a potential debut. Dolphin is a key BYD product and part of the Ocean product range. With the introduction of Dolphin, BYD also unveiled a new logo that represents the car’s entry into important markets such as Europe, Asia (including Australia and New Zealand), China, Thailand, Malaysia, Brazil, and Japan.
BYD is undoubtedly the electric vehicle company now dominating the worldwide EV market. The E6 and Atto 3 are the two offerings of the Chinese auto giant in India. However, cost-effectiveness has always been essential for success in the Indian market. BYD offers a variety of electric vehicles, ranging from premium EVs to entry-level EVs. Now the automaker is going to introduce some all-new EVs in India.
BYD Plans for India
Currently, the E6 MPV, which starts at about Rs. 29 lakh, is currently the most economical BYD vehicle available in India. The Atto 3 SUV, on the other hand, starts at about Rs. 34 lakh.BYD is eager to establish its brand in the Indian automobile market by adding new vehicles to its portfolio across various segments.
BYD Seagull Also Trademarked
BYD has also trademarked Seagull in India and the automaker is also expected to launch Seal Sedan in the subcontinent. All these upcoming offerings will sit below the Atto 3 and will compete with MG ZS EV and upcoming cars like Citroen eC3, Tata Curvv and Hyundai Creta EV.
BYD Dolphin Features
BYD Dolphin is expected to be a tech-driven vehicle. The hatchback gets a big 12.8-inch rotatable touchscreen infotainment system. The hatchback gets a keycard which will allow end users to make a keyless entry, 5-inch digital instrument cluster and PM2.5 air filter. Additionally, the BYD Dolphon also comes with features like electronic parking brakes, ventilated front seats, 360-degree camera, ADAS tech, Tyre Pressure Monitoring system, Panoramic sunroof and much more. The BYD Dolphin is a 5-star Euro NCAP rate vehicle.
BYD Dolphin: Powertrain
BYD Dolphin is expected to arrive with two battery options. These batteries come paired with a single motor positioned on the front axle. This powertrain generates a maximum power ranging between 94 and 201 bhp and peak torque between 180 and 310 Nm.
