New Bajaj Chetak confirmed, What new features can you expect? Read to know

Bajaj Chetak: As the company confirms the inclusion of a new variant, Bajaj Auto’s electric scooter, the Chetak, is set to grow in its lineup. Bajaj’s Rakesh Sharma recently disclosed intentions to expand the Chetak portfolio in the upcoming months. This is a calculated strategic move by Bajaj to reach a larger spectrum of the electric scooter market’s client segments.

New Bajaj Chetak confirmed: All we know

Given that the subsidies would eventually end, it would make sense if the next Chetak was a less expensive model, most likely costing less than Rs 1 lakh. Similar to the first-generation Chetak electric scooter, the only way Bajaj can lower the price of the future Chetak is to replace the colour LCD with a monochrome one. In order to keep costs down, the forthcoming e-scooter may possibly have a smaller battery pack and a less powerful engine.

At the moment, the two versions of the Chetak serve a luxury market. Whereas the Urbane model has an LCD display, the Premium model has a TFT screen. Features for TecPac connectivity, such as call alerts, music management, and navigation, are optional on both models. A livelier riding experience, reverse mode, and hill-hold control are also unlocked with TecPac.

New subsidy incoming

While the decreasing subsidies may have a negative short-term impact on the EV market, Rakesh Sharma noted in the same interview that they will ultimately be advantageous since only serious companies and buyers will remain in the market. However, The Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS) subsidy is taking the role of the FAME 2 subsidy. It will be implemented on April 1, 2024, and run until July 31, 2024.
