Royal Enfield Roadster 450: Although the Royal Enfield Roadster 450 has been observed undergoing testing once more, it looks like this specific test mule is almost ready for production. The spy photos reveal one of the most distinct characteristics of the new 450cc street bike, and there isn’t much camouflage to hide the bike. In this article, we will share all we can from the spy shots and check if it will compete with the Harley X440.
Royal Enfield Roadster 450 design details
Observations from the spy photos point to a feature-rich package that might include a circular TFT display and all-LED light, similar to what is seen in the Himalayan. As is typical with modern motorcycle design, the Roadster 450’s engine looks to be used as a stressed part on the chassis front. A preload-adjustable mono-shock at the back and a telescopic fork up front appear to make up the suspension. With big tyres positioned towards the road, it has 17-inch alloy wheels that are similar to those on the Shotgun 650.
Disc brakes with dual-channel ABS as standard are anticipated on both ends of the braking hardware.
Expected powertrain details
When it comes to the engine, the same Himalayan engine might be tuned differently, have its gearing adjusted, and have its final drive ratio changed to better suit a roadster’s needs. The motor has been tuned to generate 40Nm of peak torque and 39.47bhp of maximum power on the Himalayan, and it is coupled to a 6-speed gearbox.
Will it compete with X440?
As of last year, India has almost no bikes in the 400cc-500cc segment. Companies like Triumph, Harley and now RE are trying to fill this gap with amazing offerings. All of these three companies released their offerings in this segment in the last 6 months that are very closely priced. Until and unless RE offers the upcoming Roadster 450 for a very affordable price, it will be a direct competitor to the Harley X440.
