The current Toyota Innova Crysta is 20mm narrower and shorter than the Innova Hycross. While the wheelbase has grown by 100mm, the height has remained the same, which should improve passenger space. The new Innova Hycross features Toyota’s TNGA monocoque chassis, which should offer superior handling and ride quality than the ladder-on-frame chassis of the Innova Crysta. This is the most crucial point to keep in mind.
Compared to the Innova Crysta, which is normally an MPV with a streamlined profile, the new Innova Hycross has a bold exterior and an SUV-like posture.

Either a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission or a 5-speed manual transmission is available for the Innova Crysta. On the other hand, the Innova Hycross only has a CVT automatic transmission. However, the non-hybrid powertrain in its Indian-spec variant may be available with a manual transmission.
The Innova Hycross’ petrol engine, despite having a lower displacement unit, is more powerful and torquey than the Crysta’s 2.7-litre unit.
Toyota claims that the hybrid version of the Innova will have a fuel economy of 20 to 23 km/l. The official numbers, however, have not yet been released.
