According to figures from 2020 and 2021, around 4 lakh serious traffic accidents occur in India each year. This means that approximately 46 similar occurrences occur every hour, with an average of 17 people dying. To reduce casualties in road accidents and make cars safer than they are now, the Ministry of Road, Transport, and Highways (MoRTH) plans to make side and curtain airbags mandatory for all cars sold in India beginning in October 2023.

Hyundai includes six airbags in the i20’s top-tier option, the Asta (O), which starts at Rs 9.59 lakh (ex-showroom). The premium hatchback also includes ABS with EBD, a highline TPMS, ESC, hill assist control, reverse parking sensors, a rear parking camera, and ISOFIX child seat anchors.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno had a facelift last year, bringing with it a slew of new features and safety technology. Six airbags are one of the new safety measures available, which are available on the Zeta and Alpha editions of the car. The Baleno with six airbags begins at Rs 8.26 lakh (ex-showroom), making it the most cheapest car in India with this safety feature.

The Hyundai Venue facelift was introduced earlier this year, and like the pre-facelift model, the new model includes 6 airbags on the top-of-the-line SX (O) variation. The Hyundai Venue SX (O) begins at Rs 11.92 lakh (ex-showroom).
