One thing was quite evident at Samsung’s large Unpacked event this year: the firm is fully committed to artificial intelligence, particularly with its new Galaxy AI assistant. In November 2023, company made its first indications about Galaxy AI, characterising it as a blend of cloud-based and on-device services meant to improve user experience.

The term “Galaxy AI” describes Samsung’s effort to provide AI features and functionality by utilising on-device computing capability. This eliminates the requirement for an internet connection and gives consumers access to some AI capabilities.

This AI’s feature list includes Live Translation, Chat Assistance, Note Assistance, Auto Responses, Transcript Assistance, Circle to Search, Edit Suggestion, Generative Edit, Instant Slow Motion, and Android Auto Tuning.

Galaxy AI may eventually be available on a large number of Samsung smartphones, according to company hints. Only the recently released Samsung Galaxy S24 series —the S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra models—are currently compatible with Galaxy AI. Although it states that this is only guaranteed until the end of 2025, Samsung presently offers all Galaxy AI functions for free.
