Samsung W23 Flip 5G: Custom versions of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 have been revealed by Samsung as the Samsung W23 5G and Samsung W23 Flip 5G, respectively, in China. Despite certain hardware-level changes, the Chinese versions’ designs are relatively similar to those of the devices introduced in India and other markets. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC powers the Samsung W23 5G and Samsung W23 Flip 5G, which have AMOLED inner panels with up to 120Hz refresh rates. The onboard storage capacity on both variants is 512GB.
Price and availability
The price of the recently released Samsung W23 5G is CNY 15,999 (about Rs. 1,82,300) for the single 16GB RAM + 512GB storage option. The cost of the Samsung W23 Flip 5G for the lone 12GB RAM + 512GB model is CNY 9,999 (about Rs. 1,13,900). Both foldable smartphones are currently available for pre-order in China, with shipments beginning on October 28. They both come in the Shiny Black colour.
As you may remember, at the Galaxy Unpacked event in August, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 worldwide. In India, the base 12GB RAM + 256GB storage model of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 costs Rs. 1,54,999, while the base 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 costs Rs. 89,999.
Samsung W23 5G: Specifications
A 7.6-inch second-generation Dynamic AMOLED 2X QXGA+ display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a resolution of (2,176×1,812 pixels) is a feature of the Samsung W23 5G. Additionally, it sports a 6.2-inch second-generation Dynamic AMOLED cover display with HD+ (904×2,316 pixels). The Samsung W23 5G is powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, combined with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of onboard storage, just like the Galaxy Z Fold 4.
The Samsung W23 5G has three rear cameras, each with an f/1.8 aperture: a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 12-megapixel secondary sensor, an f/2.2 aperture ultra-wide lens, and a 10-megapixel sensor, an f/2.4 aperture telephoto lens. For selfies, the cover screen has a 10-megapixel sensor with an f/2.2 lens while the main screen has a 4-megapixel sensor with an f/1.8 aperture lens.
The Samsung W23 5G has a USB Type-C port, as well as 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ax, Bluetooth v5.2, NFC, Ultra Wideband (UWB), GPS, Glonass, Beidou, Galileo, and QZSS connectivity options. An accelerometer, air pressure sensor, gyroscope, geomagnetic sensor, hall sensor, light sensor, and proximity sensor are among the sensors aboard. The phone also comes with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for authentication.
A 4,400mAh battery powers it. Additionally, the phone’s folded dimensions are 1155.1 x 67.1 x 15.8mm and its unfolded dimensions are 155.1 x 130.1 x 6.3mm. It is 280 grammes heavy.
Samsung W23 Flip 5G: Specifications
The 6.7-inch primary full-HD+ (1,080×2,640 pixels) second-generation Dynamic AMOLED display on the Samsung W23 Flip 5G has a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz. Additionally, it has a 1.9-inch Super AMOLED secondary display with a resolution of 260 x 512 pixels. A significant improvement over its Indian counterparts, the clamshell foldable smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, along with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of inbuilt storage.
The Samsung W23 Flip 5G’s configuration for images and movies is comparable to that of the Galaxy Z Flip 4’s. It includes a dual rear camera system with a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera and an additional 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor with f/2.2 lenses. A 10-megapixel camera with an f/2.4 lens is placed on the folding display for selfies.
There are several different types of connectivity available, including USB Type-C, 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ax, Bluetooth v5.2, GPS/A-GPS, NFC, GPS, Glonass, Beidou, Galileo, and QZSS. The Samsung W23 Flip 5G has a number of sensors built in, including an accelerometer, barometer, gyro, geomagnetic, hall, proximity, and light sensor. For authentication, the phone has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
A 3,700mAh battery is included with the Samsung W23 Flip 5G. When folded, it is 84.9 x 71.9 x 15.9–17.1mm, and when unfolded, it measures 165.2 x 71.9 x 6.9mm. It is 187 grammes heavy.
