Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara: Over 55,000 bookings of compact SUV’s have been arranged with the Maruti Suzuki India Limited. The price of Grand Vitara will be revealed in the recent days. For some Grand Vitara models, the wait period has reached 5.5 months.
In the event that Maruti receives a flood of reservations following the price announcement, the wait period might increase even further. The Grand Vitara from Maruti Suzuki will compete with the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos for supremacy in India’s compact SUV market. Similar to the recently released Toyota Hyryder Urban Cruiser, the Grand Vitara is essentially a badge-engineered version of that vehicle.
Grand Vitara will be offered with mild and powerful hybrid powertrains, just like the Toyota Hyryder
Both SUVs come with powerful hybrid versions that have fuel economy comparable to diesel (about 28 Kmpl) and the ability to travel 25 kilometres entirely on electricity, a first for the segment. Additionally, they are India’s first powerful hybrid small SUVs. Both the Maruti Grand Vitara and the Toyota Hyryder provide all-wheel drive as an additional best-in-class feature in their mild hybrid manual versions. At its Bidadi facility outside of Bangalore, Toyota produces both SUVs.
Sales and service will be handled by Nexa dealers & Toyota’s regular dealers
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara sales and service will be handled by Nexa dealers, while Hyryder sales and service will be handled by Toyota’s regular dealers throughout India. Over the next few years, Maruti Suzuki and Toyota will both increase the number of powerful hybrid vehicles they offer in the Indian market. Selling robust hybrid vehicles as an alternative to diesel-powered vehicles is the plan.
Engine variants of diesel and CNG Vehicles
Toyota still offers diesel engines on its Innova Crysta and Fortuner, Maruti Suzuki has fully dropped diesel engines from its lineup in favour of selling mild hybrid, strong hybrid, and CNG vehicles. It’s also likely that the next generation of the Innova and Fortuner will forgo diesel engines in favour of potent hybrids. In reality, Toyota’s top-tier MPV, the Vellfire, is offered as a petrol strong hybrid, and it won’t be long until Toyota’s mass market lineup follows suit. Strong hybrids emit fewer emissions than diesels and will make it much simpler for Tayota and Maruti Suzuki to comply with the forthcoming real-time driving emission (RDE) requirements in 2023. Strong hybrids offer comparable fuel efficiency while being smoother than diesels.
