The Red Magic 7 series with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 power was announced in February. The gaming company now unveiled a “S” upgrade that, predictably, jumps to Qualcomm’s redesigned flagship chip.
The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor powers both the Red Magic 7S and 7S Pro. Both models have an integrated cooling fan that not only maintains the chipset at ideal operating temperatures but also aids in keeping the battery and charging mechanism cool.
You may choose between different memory setups for the 7S, including 8GB, 12GB, or 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. With 12GB, 16GB, or 18GB of RAM and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of storage, the Pro model is a step up.
Powered by a 4,500mAh battery and 120W quick charging, the basic phone. Actually, the phone can only handle 120W of power, but it does come with a 165W GaN charger that you can use for other equipment as well (like a laptop). The Pro variant has a battery capacity of up to 5,000mAh and 135W charging (0-50 percent in 5 minutes, 0-100 percent in 15 minutes). Once more, both phones use the fan to control temperatures when charging.
The 7S has a 9-layer cooling system, and the 7S Pro will have a 10-layer cooling system. This incorporates a modified fan with a “shark fin” design that boosts air pressure while marginally lowering noise. The 8+ Gen 1 will still benefit from active cooling even though it naturally runs cooler than the original chip.
The screens on the two S-phones are the same as those on their forerunners. That translates to a 6.8″ AMOLED 10-bit panel with a resolution of 1,080 by 2,400 pixels and DC dimming on each. However, the Pro display only operates at “only” 120Hz, while the 7S display operates at 165Hz (720Hz touch sampling) (960Hz touch sampling).
How come? Due to the Red Magic 7S Pro’s under-display camera, its front is untarnished. Be aware that the resolution has been reduced from the original 7 Pro by half to 8MP. Red Magic was able to pack the selfie camera into the thin top bezel, preventing the vanilla phone from having any notch or punch holes. Despite the unusual arrangement, the back cameras are the same: 64MP main, 8MP ultra wide, and 2MP macro.
