Switch EiV22 EV Bus: The first and only electric double-decker air-conditioned bus in India, the SWITCH EiV 22, was created in India using the company’s extensive experience with electric buses throughout the world. The SWITCH EiV 22 is outfitted with cutting-edge technology, a cutting-edge design, the highest level of safety, and industry-leading comfort features.
What is the Switch EiV22?
The e-double decker is constructed by a company with extensive knowledge of both buses and EVs. By combining forces with UK-based Optare, Ashok Leyland developed Switch Mobility. Here in India, the former requires no introduction, and the latter has more than a century of experience in bus design and production.
Know about the exterior and interior
Although Switch designed the bus, coachbuilder Antony in Mumbai actually makes the bus’s body. This bus, a double decker with a distinctly contemporary appearance, appears to be shrink-wrapped in glass and acrylic cladding. Almost whole of the front is made of glass. For a contemporary, flush one piece or pillarless look, the top and bottom windscreens are linked with an acrylic panel. Additionally, the nose receives a multitude of tiny but potent LED headlights. The distinctive “floating roof” that wraps around the side is particularly appealing because to its richly tinted green glass, which illuminates when the sun shines on it. The way the roof drops is another attractive feature.
Switch EiV22 EV Bus: Saving energy
The SWITCH electric double-decker can transport almost twice as many seated people as a comparable single-decker bus with just an 18% increase in Kerb weight thanks to its lightweight aluminium body structure and sophisticated architecture. The electric double-decker features broad front and back doors, two staircases, and an emergency door that complies with the most recent safety regulations. It also has contemporary aesthetics and positive interiors and exteriors. The optimised seating for 65 passengers is the highest number that can be offered in the given footprint, and the AC provides efficient cooling in India’s hot climate. For the comfort of the passengers, each seat has a small cushion, and the interiors are comfortable like a car.
Mumbai double decker bus: what’s next?
Double deckers have been a part of Mumbai’s history for 86 years. Additionally practical, they transport almost twice as many passengers, use 36% less energy, and occupy a less amount of road space per passenger. Additionally, the Switch EiV22 emits no local emissions; it is quick and agile enough to keep up with traffic, and many people will be content to travel in air-conditioned comfort. Wouldn’t it be great to go along Mumbai’s future coastal road on the top deck?
