Tata Nano EV: The goal of the ambitious Nano project was to give families who ride two-wheelers a safer alternative. It has become common place to see two people and two or more children condensed into a small space and travelling on two wheels. Although Nano aimed to revolutionise things, it somehow failed to produce the numbers required to be financially sustainable.

Even though it received a positive reception at launch in 2008, the Tata Nano was discontinued in 2018. Despite not being able to meet balance sheet criteria, it succeeded in raising brand recall. Some of these can still be seen on the streets, and it’s hard to ignore the car’s quirky proportions and adorable profile. Because of this, there is potential for an electric version of Nano to emerge.

What to expect from Tata?
Even though the Nano electric vehicle won’t likely be available for some time, automotive designer Pratyush Rout has created a fascinating concept for the micro-EV. Although the form is recognisable, the overall design appears much more contemporary and fluid. Large glass panels give the automobile an airy, appealing vibe. Even if an all-glass top could function even better, it might not be financially feasible.
About the new design
Nano electric vehicles have big DRLs that resemble eyelids and small headlamps. The car exudes friendliness, which is enhanced by the happy appearance on the bumper portion. Front doors have flush knobs, while side panels have a sculpted appearance and feel. The knobs on rear doors are built into the C-pillar. The positioning of the wheels allows a longer wheelbase and roomy interiors.
First to enter in the micro-EV segment
Tata might be aiming for the first-mover advantage in the micro-EV market with Nano electric. Global economies like China have seen tremendous expansion in this sector. Similar trends might be anticipated for India, where entry-level hatchbacks now rule the market.
Range of Nano EV
However, Tata might take a different tack with Nano electric. Based on a born electric platform, nano electric might incorporate more contemporary design elements. The Nano EV may be positioned as Tata’s most affordable electric vehicle and may have a 200 km range.
Some other upcoming EVs from Tata
Tata has had success producing electric versions of its well-known vehicles, such the Nexon, Tigor, and Tiago. Nano EV might fit within the same plan. Additionally, Tata is preparing to release an electrified version of Punch in 2023.
