So far, 13 people have been arrested by the police in connection with the attack on the convoy of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. In the capital Patna, an angry mob pelted stones at Nitish Kumar’s convoy on Sunday evening. The mob had broken the windows of many vehicles included in the CM’s convoy.
Nitish Kumar Was Scheduled To Visit Gaya
The incident took place near Sohdi Mor under Gauri Chak police station in Patna. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was not present in any vehicle involved in the convoy at the time of the incident. Patna District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh told that the incident happened when the CM’s convoy was going towards Gaya district on Sunday. Actually, Nitish Kumar is scheduled to visit Gaya district today, so an advance convoy was being sent there on Sunday.
The DM said that when the convoy reached Sohdi around 5 pm on Sunday evening, a group of local people blocked the road and they were protesting over the death of a local youth. He said that when the protesters saw the convoy of the Chief Minister, they started pelting stones at it, which broke the glass of three-four vehicles.
The 13 accused arrested so far, the District Magistrate further said, ‘by then the local police reached there and dispersed the protesters. I reached there immediately along with the Senior Superintendent of Police (Patna). A case has been registered against 15 people in this regard and the local police have arrested 13 people so far. We are checking the CCTV footage and soon the remaining 2 accused will be arrested.”
Based on the CCTV footage, the local police have registered a case against 15 people for causing trouble and causing damage to government vehicles.
