In the year 2019, the Disha rape case in Hyderabad shook the whole country. After this, there were fierce demonstrations across the country. A few days after the incident, the Hyderabad Police had claimed to have killed the four accused in an encounter, but at that time many organizations raised questions about it.
The Supreme Court-appointed committee on Friday held that the 2019 encounter at Hyderabad was fake and recommended that the 10 police officers be tried for murder for killing of four rape and murder accused.
On which the Sirpurkar Commission was given the task of investigating it. This report has now been filed in the Supreme Court, indicating that the encounter was fake.
The commission included former Supreme Court judge Justice VS Sirpurkar, retired Bombay High Court judge Justice Rekha Baldota and former CBI director Karthikeyan. He said in his report that after investigation, we felt that the accused were shot intentionally so that they would die.
In such a situation, this encounter is fake and action should be taken against the officials involved in it.
On the other hand, the Telangana government was also accepting this encounter as right, due to which it was seen defending its officers.
During the hearing in the Supreme Court, Telangana government’s counsel Shyam Divan requested the division bench of the Chief Justice to see the investigation report and seal it again.
Also it should not be made public. On this, the Chief Justice said that if the investigation report was to be kept confidential, then what is the use of getting the investigation done.
The Supreme Court then directed the Telangana government and the High Court to ensure action against the accused officers on the basis of the commission’s report.
This incident is from November 2019. During that time a veterinary doctor was gang-raped. After that the accused killed her and burnt the body under a bridge in Shadnagar. The police arrested four accused soon after the incident. After that they had an encounter.
