2024 BMW: Extra power and improved efficiency come with the updated BMW X5 and X6 facelift, details here

2024 BMW: The complany has updated its two most popular SUVs, the X5 and X6, with various styling and technological upgrades. The updated BMW X5 and X6 SUVs have been unveiled online and are scheduled to make their physical debut at the Amelia Concours d’Elegance in March, with production commencing in April. The exteriors of the two luxury SUVs have undergone minor revisions, while the interiors and powertrains of both vehicles have received substantial updates.

The headlights are now 35 mm narrower than before

The redesigned BMW X5 and X6 are visually distinct from their forerunners. However, exterior changes are subtle, and the basic silhouette of these vehicles remains unchanged. The automaker claims that the headlights are now 35 mm narrower than before and that the kidney grille borders and lower fascias on SUVs have been updated. The X5 is available with an illuminated grille as an option. In contrast, the X6 comes standard with an M Sport package featuring an octagonal lower fascia.

Other design elements for the M60i xDrive include the quad exhaust pipes. BMW offers consumers an extensive palette of exterior hues for both of these SUVs. Metallic Blue Ridge Mountain, metallic Brooklyn Grey, metallic Skyscraper Grey, and metallic Frozen Pure Grey are among the colour options available. In addition, the X5 M60i xDrive is offered in Marina Bay Blue metallic and the X6 M60i xDrive is available in Isle of Man Green metallic.

The updated X5 and X6 feature significant cabin modifications

The screens include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 14.9-inch instrument cluster in a single curved display. Additionally, an ambient light bar with 15 selectable colours illuminates the cabin.

On the powertrain front, significant modifications have been made. BMW’s new generation 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six powers the X5 sDrive40i, xDrive40i, and X6 xDrive40i. This motor is coupled to a 48-volt mild hybrid system. The electric motor alone generates 12 horsepower and 199 Newton meters of peak torque. The plug-in hybrid powertrain generates 375 horsepower and 519 Newton meters of torque, an increase from the previous model’s 335 horsepower and 450 Newton meters of torque. BMW claims the new X5 and X6 xDrive40i can accelerate from 0 to 96 kilometres per hour in 5.2 seconds, which is slightly faster than the previous model’s 5.3-second acceleration time.

The vehicles detected by the cameras and sensors

The optional Driving Assistance Professional Package includes the Highway Assistant as a technological feature for SUVs. This system allows drivers to take their hands off the steering wheel at speeds up to 87 mph on limited-access highways. In addition, the instrument cluster features an Assisted View mode that displays the vehicles detected by the cameras and sensors in the current and adjacent lanes. The Parking Assistant Professional technology can record up to 200 metres of driving and play them back in reverse. This means that a driver can summon the vehicle to them remotely using the My BMW app on their smartphone.
