5 upcoming SUVs in India
1. Toyota’s Fronx
Toyota is expected to release the rebadged Maruti Suzuki Fronx during the upcoming holiday season. The Fronx, a popular model that sells in high volumes each month, is positioned below the Brezza small SUV in Maruti Suzuki’s lineup. The small SUV coupe is based on the premium Baleno hatchback, and Toyota’s version will also be built on the same architecture.
It is expected that the upcoming vehicle will have similar performance engines, specifically the 1.2-litre K-series and 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engines. The 3-cylinder 1.2-litre petrol engine can produce a maximum power of 90bhp and a torque of 113Nm. On the other hand, the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine can generate a maximum torque of 140Nm and approximately 100 horsepower.
It is anticipated that the rumoured Toyota compact SUV coupe will have three different gearbox options: a five-speed manual, a six-speed torque converter AT, and a five-speed AMT.
At present, it is unclear if the upcoming Toyota model will have a distinct design from the Fronx. However, the car’s interior will feature a similar floating nine-inch infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Additionally, it will have convenient features such as push-button start/stop, cruise control, automated climate control, a 360-degree camera, a heads-up display, and multiple airbags.
2. Citroen C3 Aircross
New details on the impending C3 Aircross SUV have been made available by Citroen India. In the upcoming months, the French brand’s next offering for India under the C-cubed plan will go on sale and be targeted at the competitive but essential mid-size SUV market. With prices and deliveries planned for October of this year, reservations for the C3 Aircross will open in September.
The same CMP chassis as the C3 serves as its foundation, while a 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine with 110 PS provides power. Only the six-speed MT is used with it.
3. Tata Nexon Facelift
Tata could choose to provide the Nexon facelift with the brand-new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that was first displayed at the Auto Expo alongside the Curvv ICE concept. Three-cylinder engine with 125 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 225 Nm of torque between 1,700 to 3,500 rpm. The current Nexon is equipped with a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 120 horsepower and 170 Nm of torque. The SUV will still have a 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 260 Nm of torque and 115 horsepower.
4. Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus
A 2.2-litre diesel engine, which is the same one as the Scorpio N but produces less power, will power the Bolero Neo+. As opposed to the 132 horsepower that the same engine delivers in the Scorpio N and Thar, sources claim that the Bolero Neo+ will produce roughly 120 horsepower. The Bolero passenger car lineup will only be available with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 2WD model; no 4-wheel-drive models will be available.
Most of the characteristics that are present in Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus are also present in Bolero Neo. This features a 2-DIN audio system, Bluetooth connectivity, voice messaging, a 7.0-inch touchscreen entertainment system, a height-adjustable driver seat, ORVMs that are powered by electricity, armrests for the driver and co-driver, fabric upholstery, twin airbags, and rear parking sensors. ABS has features such as EBD and cruise control.
5. Honda Elevate
There will just be one petrol engine option now available for the Honda Elevate. It will be propelled by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder normally aspirated engine. The maximum power output of this engine is 121 bhp, while the maximum torque production is 145 Nm. It will have the choice of a CVT or 6-speed manual gearbox.
Regarding features, it has a 7-inch TFT screen, a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, a push start-stop button, a lane watch camera, six airbags, and level-2 ADAS.
