Air India all set to amalgamate Brand Vistara into its fold, as it gets ready to acquire 470 aircraft for $ 70 Bn

Air India CEO Campbell Wilson has revealed that the list price of 470 aircraft, which it has recently ordered from Boeing and Airbus is $ 70 billion. Further stated that due to global popularity of Air India, it will let go Vistara brand after merger.

Air India will let go Brand Vistara after merger

In an virtual press conference, Campbel Wilson stated that Air India has enormous potential and efforts are on to make it a significant international player.

While answering the question regarding Air Inda – Vistara merger, Wilson stated that the process of integration of Vistara with Air India is in the process and is awaiting approval from Competition Commission of India (CCI). He also apprised that integration of Air India Express and AIX connect , earlier known as AirAsia India, is also underway.

Air India on mass hiring spree

Wilson also shed light on mass hirings which are going on in Air India, it has recruited 1,200 ground staff, 300 for airport and 200 cabin crew. Last week, Tata group owned Air India also stated that it is planning to hire over 4,200 cabin crew trainees and 900 pilots in 2023 as the airline adds new aircraft and rapidly expands its domestic and international operations.  

Over 1,900 cabin crew members were engaged by Air India between May 2022 and February 2023. Between July 2022 and January 2023, more than 1,100 cabin crew received training, and in the last three months, the airline has released 500 cabin employees for flying.
