Akasa Air’s First Flight Takes Off From Mumbai

The first flight of Akasa Air, an airline invested by stock market big bull Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, left Mumbai for Ahmedabad at 10.05 am on Sunday. Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia flagged off Akasa’s first commercial flight.

This flight reached Ahmedabad at 11.25 hrs. The fully booked flight included 189 passengers as well as cockpit and cabin crew.

Akasa Air will also start operating on the Bangalore-Kochi route from August 13, Bengaluru-Mumbai from August 19 and Chennai-Mumbai from September 15. The minimum fare for the flight is Rs 1916. Akasa has projected itself as a low cost airline, which will give direct competition to companies like SpiceJet, Indigo, GoFirst. Jhunjhunwala has invested $35 million for a 40% stake in the venture.

Akasa Air will operate between Mumbai and Ahmedabad every day except Wednesday. Its departure time from Mumbai is 10:05 am. Similarly, the return flight from Ahmedabad will be at 12:05 pm every day except Wednesday.

Flight tickets from Mumbai start at Rs 2673, while flight tickets from Ahmedabad start at Rs 2574. The second fly from Mumbai to Ahmedabad will take off at 02:05 in the afternoon. The return flight from Ahmedabad will be at 4:05 pm.

Bangalore-Kochi Route
The airline will operate daily from Bangalore to Kochi at 07:15 AM and 11:00 AM. Its tickets start from Rs 1916. The return flights from Kochi will operate at 09:05 AM and 01:10 PM. Its ticket price starts from Rs.2481.

Flight booking can be done through mobile app, mobile web and desktop website www.akasaair.com travel agents. The airline also has an on-board meal service that can be booked from Cafe Akasa. Café Akasa offers things like Pasta, Vietnamese Rice Rolls, Hot Chocolate and Indian Cuisine.

Akasa will start international flights by the summer of 2023. By then, it will include 20 aircraft, which are required by local regulations for service on foreign routes. All Akasa 737 Max will have the option to fly to the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

The airline code for Akasa is ‘QP’. Every airline in the world has a designer code. For example, IndiGo’s code is 6E, GoFirst’s code is G8 and Air India’s AI. The logo of Akasa airline is ‘Rising A’. When the company launched the logo, it was told that ‘Rising A’ represents Spirit of Flying, M of Height and Pursuit of Dreams. The colors ‘Sunrise Orange’ and ‘Passion Purple’ in the logo represent warmth and energy.

On July 22, Akasa Air started booking tickets for its first commercial flight.
