Railways has made a big announcement in Bihar. Railways says that no train will run between 4 am to 8 pm. There has been maximum violence in Bihar against the ‘Agnipath’ scheme. Angry mobs set fire to dozens of trains and damaged public properties in several cities and towns.
According to railway officials, the demolition of railway properties has caused a loss of more than ₹200 crore in Bihar alone. Due to the violent agitation, Railways has canceled 210 Mail Express trains, while 159 passenger trains have been cancelled. Two Mail Express trains have been partially cancelled. A total of 371 trains have been affected.
East Central Railway has made temporary changes in the operation of trains due to violent protests. Railways said that due to the demonstration, in view of passenger safety, there has been a temporary change in the operation of trains passing through East Central Railway jurisdiction openly from other Zonal Railways.
Railways says that keeping in view the safety of passengers and railway property, it has been decided that from 20.00 hrs on 18.06.2022 to 04.00 hrs on 19.06.2022 and again on 19.06.2022 from 20.00 hrs to 20.06.2022 at 20.00 hrs.
The Railways informed on Friday that more than 300 trains have been affected due to the violent protests, while 234 have been cancelled. At the same time, 7 trains have come under fire. Railways said that 94 mail and express trains while 140 passenger trains have been canceled due to the demonstration. While 65 mail and express trains and 30 passenger trains have been partially cancelled. Officials said that the Railways has diverted 11 mail and express trains.
