Arvind Kejriwal: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal came out in defence of Manish Sisodia, main accused in liquor policy case, with a ‘filmi’ reference. He said ED and CBI were acting like film production companies.
Kejriwal said, “Put him [Sisodia] in jail if he has done anything wrong. ED and CBI have now become this film production company. The director of ED is no longer the director of ED but the director of the film.” The Prime Minister’s Office writes the scripts and produces the film, he added.
He accused the Centre of planting evidence against Sisodia.

BJP attack
Earlier on Friday, the BJP attacked Manish Sisodia for allegedly leaking the scrapped 2021-22 excise policy to his “friends” months before it was made public. It also alleged Sisodia destroyed the “digital evidence” to conceal the scam. “The policy was made public on July 5, 2021, but a copy of it was leaked to Sisodia’s friends, manufacturers, and the cartel on May 31, 2021, so that they can be prepared….The excise department uploaded licences of 3,400 companies between 10 pm and 7 am, which are not official working hours on Sisodia’s direction,” BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said.
A day earlier on Thursday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Aurobindo Pharma’s promoter P Sarath Chandra Reddy and wine and spirits company Pernod Ricard’s executive Benoy Babu in for their role in the case. The agency claimed that certain manufacturers knew of the police at least 45 days before it was made public.
Advance payment
Patra also claimed Sisodia and his team took an advance payment of Rs 100 crore from the two liquor businessmen who are now under arrest. “Two businessmen were arrested in the case and advance payment worth Rs 100 crores were taken from these two businessmen, their companies,” Patra said.
“When the whole excise policy issue came out as a scam, and a CBI probe was initiated, 140 mobile phones were changed by 34 people including accused number one Manish Sisodia. These phones were crushed to erase digital evidence,” claimed the BJP leader.
Sisodia is the prime accused in an FIR registered by the CBI to probe alleged irregularities in the formulation and implementation of the new state excise policy 2021-22.
