Assam Election: BJP has crossed the majority mark in the opening trends

In the north eastern state of Assam, counting of votes is going on for the results of the election. Full results are expected by evening. The state has a total of 126 assembly seats, while voting was held on March 27, April 1 and April 6 in three phases. In the initial trend, the BJP is getting signs of majority.

In Assam, the BJP has crossed the majority mark in the opening trends. The BJP has been steadily ahead of the Congress-led Mahajot since the time the alliance began counting. The counting of votes for the assembly elections held in five states including Assam is going on today that is on Sunday. In the initial trends in the assembly elections in the northeastern state of Assam, the BJP alliance is ahead in 81 seats while the Congress-led coalition is leading in 45 seats. Congress’s ally BPF is trailing in all 12 seats .

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and AGP Chief and Minister Atul Bora are leading over Majuli, Jalukbari and Bokakhat respectively. Congress Legislature Party chief Debabrata Saikia and his assistant Rakibul Hussain are trailing Nazira and Samaguri respectively. Assam has 126 assembly seats and needs 64 seats for a majority.

BJP has tied up with AGP and UPPL in the state. Akhil Gogoi is leading from the Sibsagar seat in the Jail chief and leader of anti-CAA protests. Here Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has said that it is clear that we will form the government. The public has blessed us. Will have to wait till the last count. Right now the trend is in our favor
