Mahmood Ahmed, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, reportedly told the media that the New Car Assessment Programme will begin conducting vehicle accident tests in India on October 1, 2023.
According to Secretary Mahmood Ahmed, as quoted in a report by Autocar Professional, the process of putting the new regulations into effect would begin on July 1, 2023.
For the benefit of the general public’s knowledge, let us inform you that this is a crash test programme, under which automobiles will be tested in crashes and rated on a scale of 0 to 5 based on how well they perform.
Let us inform you that while up until this point, the Global NCAP crash test has been used to monitor this procedure, car crash testing will shortly begin in India as well. The criteria for the safety rating of cars have been established by the Road Transport Ministry.
