Maruti Suzuki: Maruti Suzuki confirmed that the Grand Vitara, Brezza, and Baleno will undergo Bharat NCAP crash safety testing. Three Maruti Suzuki vehicles will go through the BNCAP crash testing, according to Senior Executive D, Sales and Marketing, Shashank Srivastava. The date of the ratings’ announcement has not been disclosed by the company. Read on to know more.
3 Maruti Suzuki Cars to be tested under Bharat NCAP
First Maruti models to be assessed by BNCAP, according to the firm, are the Brezza, Baleno, and Grand Vitara. The second series of cars will comprise of the Fronx.
Before this, the Brezza was assessed by Global NCAP. Still, it was the Vitara Brezza, a model from the previous generation. Two stars were given for the safety of the youngest occupants and four stars for the safety of the adults.
Also, Baleno’s collision safety has previously been assessed. Latin NCAP gave it an appalling zero star. But as of yet, no independent organisation has given the Grand Vitara a safety grade.
Bharat NCAP
India’s first indigenous car safety rating system is called Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP). It started operating on October 1, 2023, having been launched on August 22, 2023.
The M1 class of vehicles having a gross weight of less than or equal to 3,500 kg are eligible for the optional Bharat NCAP programme. The Automotive Industry Standard, AIS 197, serves as the foundation for the programme.
Bharat NCAP carried out its initial round of crash tests in December 2023. The Tata Harrier and Safari SUVs were rated as having the highest level of safety after achieving excellent results in adult and child protection testing, according to the programme.
