BJP Youth Leader Killed: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai called on for an emergency press conference amid tensions over the death of the BJP youth wing leader Pravin Nettaru.
Speaking to media, Bommai said, “We planned to celebrate the completion of a year of our government’s formation on July 28 – ‘Janotsava’ at Doddaballapura, but are now cancelling the event. I’ll instead address a press conference tomorrow.”
Notably Karnataka government event at Vidhana Soudha has also been cancelled.
“Action ordered. As the incident took place close to Kerala border, Karnataka Police is in touch with neighbouring Kerala Police. I have received complete information from our Director General of Police regarding the murder. The accused will be arrested soon and severely punished,” he said
“My mind wasn’t at peace after hearing the news, I gave directions to act on it then and there. It happened just a few days after Harsha’s (Bajrang Dal activist) death. It’s inhuman and condemnable. Won’t spare such elements at any cost. A task force of commandos will be trained along with the intelligence wing, they’ll specifically look after such elements. Culprits will be nabbed soon. There are inter-state issues involved that’s why I can’t reveal everything now,” he added.
Over handing the case to NIA Chief Minister said, “Basic information should be gathered and there are some rules. We will decide later (on handing over the case to NIA).”
“It looks like a pre-planned incident bearing similarities to other cases,” he said.
BJP youth leader Praveen Nettaru, a BJP worker, was attacked with lethal weapons by unidentified persons on a bike in Bellare, Dakshina Kannada, late Tuesday evening.
