BMW Mini Cooper and Countryman: 2023 was a quite busy year for BMW as the brand launched some of its great products including the X1 and the 7 Series and the brand also introduced the upgraded models of the existing models of X5 and X7 SUVs. The German brand is all set to repeat the 2023 rock in 2024 too. Some of the great forthcoming launches going to join BMW’s India portfolio will be the new-gen models of the 5 Series which are also expected to get electric counterparts this year. BMW will introduce updates to both Cooper and Countryman. Curious to know more about the new models, check more details below.
BMW 5 Series New Gen Models
BMW is expected to make it 5 Series bigger in dimensions and more comfortable than the previous models. It is expected to get a similar design language as the BMW 7 Series as the new model is getting a twin-screen layout inside the cabin with a 12.3-inch driver display and 14.9-inch touchscreen. It will also get BMW’s latest iDrive 8.5 system. These new-gen models will be the first-ever BMWs to offer full vegan interior options as well. The new 5 Series models come equipped with a 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engine. Both powertrains will utilize the 48V Mild Hybrid technology.
BMW i5
BMW 5 Series is also getting an all-electric model called the i5. This all-electric model is available in 2 variants in the global market which include- M60 xDrive and eDrive40. The M60 is a sporty twin-motor all-wheel drive version generating a maximum power of 601 hp and a peak torque of 820 Nm. Talking about the acceleration, the car accelerates from 0-100 kmph in just 3.8 seconds. On the other hand, the eDrive40 will get a single motor deployed on the rear axle and churn out a maximum power of 340 HP and a peak torque of 430 Nm. Both M60 xDrive and eDrive40 will boast an impressive drive range of 516 km and 582 km respectively.
Mini Countryman
BMW will introduce the third-gen model of Mini Countryman crossover in India this year. The new model coming to India is relatively bigger in dimensions and is more spacious inside the cabin. It also comes with six-point adjustable rear seat backrests. Additionally, the vehicle will get Level 2 ADAS technology. Currently, the Countryman gets electric, diesel and turbo petrol options overseas. But, we expect that BMW will also introduce a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and electric models as well.
Min Cooper SE
Mini Cooper is another popular hatchback in BMW’s India portfolio which is all set to get an update in India in 2024. The Mini Cooper will get an all-new larger octagonal front grille. The hatchback will also get blacked-out elements across its exteriors and interiors. As far as the features are concerned 9.4 inch Samsung OLED touchscreen infotainment system. The hatchback is expected to land in India with a starting price tag of Rs. 58 lakh and it is expected to make India debut in Early 2024.
