Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the Bundelkhand Expressway in Kaitheri village of Orai tehsil of UP Jalaun district today.
The Prime Minister had laid the foundation stone of Bundelkhand Expressway on February 29, 2020. The work of this expressway has been completed within 28 months and now it has been inaugurated by the Prime Minister.
“The Bundelkhand Expressway is a live example of the development of the Bundelkhand region. It will give a new identity to the region and will turn out to be a path for industrial investments,” Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath said.
“The state-of-the-art Bundelkhand Expressway passes through 7 districts. The local economy will benefit tremendously due to it. There will be great industrial development in the region and this would bring more opportunities for the local youth,” the prime minister had tweeted on Friday.
In the inaugural ceremony, the PM said that the earth which produced countless warriors. Where the bhakti of India flows in the blood, where the valor and hard work of sons and daughters have always illuminated the name of the country. I am getting special pleasure while giving this gift of expressway to that land of Bundelkhand today. The stream of development on which the country is running today has two aspects at its core. One is intention and the other is limits. We are not only creating new facilities for the present of the country, but we are also building the future of the country.
PM Modi said that in the UP where Rae Bareli Rail Coach Factory was running only by painting the coaches. In that UP, infrastructure is now being worked on so seriously that it has even outperformed good states.
This four-lane expressway with a total length of 296 km (Bundelkhand Expressway distance) has been constructed under the aegis of Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) at a cost of about Rs 14,850 crore and can be further expanded to six lanes.
Bundelkhand Expressway has 4 railway overbridges, 14 long bridges, 6 toll plazas, 7 ramp plazas, 266 minor bridges and 18 flyovers.
Not only this, 7 lakh trees will be planted around the expressway. whose work has already started.
After the start of this expressway, the journey from Chitrakoot to Rajdhani Delhi can be completed in about 7 to 8 hours.
The expressway extends from NH-35 at Gonda village near Bharatkup in Chitrakoot district to Kudrail village in Etawah district, where it merges with the Agra-Lucknow Expressway.
This expressway passes through seven districts – Chitrakoot, Banda, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Auraiya and Etawah.
It is believed that the Bundelkhand Expressway will improve the connectivity of this area as well as promote economic development, as it will create a lot of employment opportunities for the local people.
The work of building industrial corridors near this expressway in Banda and Jalaun districts has already started.
