The media stated that Amazon quietly acquired an undisclosed cost for Snackable AI, an audio content discovery engine, to improve its podcast services.
To assist with ongoing podcast efforts, the Snackable AI team joined Amazon Music.
According to The New York Post, Mari Joller, the founder and CEO of Snackable, is now a product leader for artificial intelligence and machine learning at Amazon.
Snackable AI, which was founded in 2018, specialises in leveraging AI to quickly add structure and metadata to video and audio through the use of AI-generated chapters, highlights, and other features.
Snackable will develop the podcast features that are available on Amazon Music.
Snackable has raised a total of USD 3.1 million from investors before being purchased by Amazon.
The agreement was made at a time when Big Tech companies like Amazon are pushing to include AI-driven capabilities in their products in the ChatGPT era.
Amazon is now developing a large language model (LLM) to power Alexa that is considerably larger and much more “generalised and capable,” which is going to quickly advance the vision of providing the best personal assistant in the entire world. This LLM is being inspired by the ChatGPT success.
ChatGPT is a fantastic example of an application that is being constructed, according to Andy Jassy, CEO of Amazon.
“We’ll build some of those applications ourselves. So for instance, we think one of the most compelling applications that are going to be built in generative AI have to do with making developers much more effective with coding assistance,” he noted during the company’s latest quarterly earnings call.
“I think there’s a significant business model underneath it,” he added.
“We’ve been investing in building our own large language models for several years, and we have a very large investment across the company,” said Jassy.
