Amazon: CEO Andy Jassy of E-commerce and tech giant Amazon has stated that the multinational conglomerate will generate 20 lakhs jobs in India by 2030. The company has planned to invest $15 billion in India taking its total investment up to $26 billion. During a meeting with Prime Minister Modi CEO Jassy said, “We have invested $11 billion till date and intend to invest another $15 billion, which will bring the total to $26 billion. So we are very much looking forward to the future of partnering.” On Friday, PM Modi had met Andy Jassy during his state visit to the United States.
Digitization of 1 crore small businesses
PM Modi and Amazon CEO Jassy discussed various arenas of cooperation including assisting Indian startups with capital and technology , promoting Indian exports, accelerating digitization, and facilitating Indian businesses and individuals to be competitive on a global scale.
The company has also made a commitment in assisting digitization process for 1 crore small businesses and enabling 20 billion in exports. Amazon India has already digitized 62 lakhs small businesses in India and has so far facilitated $7 billion in exports.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar lauds partnership
Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar also took to Twitter to heap praise on Jassy’s meeting with PM Modi.“This big investment commitment by @amazonIN is to invest $26 billion by 2030 and create 20 Lakh jobs in India – is consistent with PM @narendramodiji’s vision of a Digital and Self-Reliant India n will help further deepen the #AI(America-India) tech partnership,” he tweeted.
In their 10 years in India, Amazon has generated 13 lakh direct and indirect jobs. The company also collaborated with 12 lakh Indian businesses to sell their products online.
