CEO Andy Jassy hints at massive layoff
The layoff was initially hinted at by CEO Andy Jassy, although he did not say how many staff will be let go. A few internal sources told The New York Times in November that the corporation planned to lay off 10,000 workers. According to a new rumour, this figure has been boosted to 20,000, and the corporation plans to terminate employees at all levels, according to the cited source.
Amazon’s CEO recently said that the layoff process would last a few months and that impacted employees would be notified once the business assessed everything. As a result, the number of reductions may have increased because it is closely scrutinising all departments across the regions to reduce money.

Amazon will prioritize communicating directly with impacted employees
“Our annual planning process extends into the new year, which means there will be more role reductions as leaders continue to make adjustments. Those decisions will be shared with impacted employees and organizations early in 2023. We haven’t concluded yet exactly how many other roles will be impacted (we know that there will be reductions in our Stores and PXT organizations), but each leader will communicate to their respective teams when we have the details nailed down. And, as has been the case this week, we will prioritize communicating directly with impacted employees before making broad public or internal announcements,” CEO Andy Jassy remarked.
