Amul Milk Price Increased by Rs 2 per Litre, New Rates To Be Implemented From Tomorrow

Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), an Amul marketer, announced a 2-per-litre hike for all liquid fresh milk varieties in consumer packets on Wednesday.

The price increase will take effect on July 1, 2021, across all of the company’s markets across the country. The price rise will be effective on all brands of Amul milk, including Gold, Taaza, Shakti, T-special, as well on cow and buffalo milk etc.

The price is being hiked after a gap of nearly one year and seven months, officials said. An increase in the production cost is the reason behind the price rise, the company said.

RS Sodhi, Managing Director, GCMMF, said the hike in the milk price became necessary due to the rise in food inflation.

“Additionally, the cost for packaging has gone up by 30 to 40 per cent, the transportation cost by 30 per cent, and the energy cost by 30 per cent, which led to the increase in the input cost,” he said.
